Disney’s Pixar very rarely misses. Whether it be the short films before their feature length films or the film’s themselves, Pixar almost always hits the nail on the head. Inside Out fits right onto the impressive list of successes for Pixar. The story is absolutely fantastic, having different layers for all ages, like many other Pixar films. The film, on its surface, is about a little girl struggling with a move to a new city. However, for the older crowd it is a story about growing up. For the more psychologically inclined audience, it is an interesting interpretation on memory and emotion. No matter the lens you watch Inside Out through, it is an incredibly enjoyable film. The voice acting is top notch, as is expected from the animation juggernaut, with fantastic performances by Poehler as Joy and Smith as Sadness. I found that the only low point of the film was the soundtrack. For a movie that does such a good job eliciting emotion, the soundtrack left a lot to be desired. Despite this small let down, Inside Out delivers on virtually every level. I highly recommend this movie. While this film may not have the staying power of Toy Story or Up, I believe that Inside Out is a film definitely worth seeing.
